Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Candace Fisher decided at the age of 10 that she wanted to work with pets professionally when she grew up. For as long as she can remember, she’s loved a good mystery—working in veterinary medicine allows her to combine her puzzle-solving instincts with her adoration for animals! Dr. Fisher is now a full-time veterinarian and the owner of Angel Animal Hospital.
Dr. Fisher grew up on the west side of Columbus, where her veterinary journey began at a pet store in the local mall. She completed her undergraduate studies with a degree in Agriculture followed by 4 years at Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1986. After caring for pets in various veterinary hospitals for 10 years, as well as performing relief work for three, Dr. Fisher opened the doors of Angel Animal Hospital in February of 2001.
Dr. Fisher holds a special interest in emergency medicine, and also likes using the diagnostic tools at her disposal to get to the bottom of a pet’s problem. She is a past president and active member of the Westland Area Business Association, and is involved with the Columbus Allbreed Training Club. Dr. Fisher is also a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association.
When she has spare time between her duties as a veterinarian and practice owner, Dr. Fisher enjoys ballroom dancing, reading a good mystery novel, hiking, swimming, and spending time with her own pets. She lives with Bruno Mars, a 9 lb Chihuahua who’s described as being “built like a tank,” as well as Bruno’s older and more subdued sister, Ruby Petunia.
